Una Throw

$149.00

Natural indigo-dyed yarns of merino wool and organic cotton were handwoven together to create the Una throw using a 700-year old weaving technique called ‘Tangaliya’. A time-consuming process, Tangaliya involves wrapping contrast-colored pieces of thread around a group of warp threads along the weaving length of a fabric. These wrapped threads take on the appearance of a bead or a french knot, and their precise placement on the fabric creates beautiful, delicate patterns.

Our handwoven throws and shawls are our endeavor to showcase the blend of authentic, generational craftsmanship and contemporary design sensibilities. This collection is the combined effort of pastoral and weaving communities of Kutch, India, that function as an eco-system, all depending on each other for their livelihoods. Together they are the carriers of knowledge and skills that are passed down generations. We are honored to work alongside these traditional masters of craft and bring to you our beautiful, collaborative textiles.
